Austrian NCO bayonet model 1888 for Mannlicher rifle model 1888. Bayonet is chrome or nickel plated indicating Guard Regiment usage. Top of the handle marked "LG" - Leibgarde? Straight blade with fuller on both sides and central point. Smooth, brown wooden knife like handle. Straight crossguard with hook, muzzle ring and setting bolt, iron black painted scabbard. Blade is 9.68" long, overall: 14.76". Muzzle ring: 0.65" dia (16.5 mm). Bayonet is marked: "OEWG" (Steyr) on the blade. Condition: beautiful chrome/nickel blade with no rust or pitting. Excellent grips with just one tiny dent. Nice scabbard with only one very small dent by the tip, black paint almost gone, uniform patina. Nice original frog with no tears and solid stitches. Extremely rare bayonet in this condition.
