Hungarian Officer's sword from period of pre WWII. This is a basically Austrian M-1861 Infantry Officer's sword witch was widely used by Hungarian King's Army from 1918 till the end of WWII. It comes with gorgeous gilded portepee with Hungarian colors (enamel?) and beautiful golden  St. Stephen Crown on it. The 30.5 inches long blade was made by: "J. Zimbler Wien 7" and it is marked so on ricasso. Blade is nicely engraved with panoply of arms, leafs and it is nickel plated. The hilt, guard and pommel are also engraved and nickel plated. The grip is covered with shark skin and wrapped with twisted wire. Iron scabbard, also nickel plated. The War Medal shown as props is not included in this auction.

Condition: great blade with all nickel remaining only a couple darker spots in the engraving. The hilt also ha no loss of nickel.  The top section of the pommel show some loss of nickel and exposed iron shows uniform dark patina. The grip has small loss of shark skin and there is a small  crack close to top of the pommel. The scabbard shows nickel loss and there are  couple of door dents on the tip. Overall a very nice Hungarian sword with super portepee.
