English pattern 1796 light cavalry saber with 33 x 1 1/2 inch blade, wider at the hatchet point.  It was used primarily by Light Dragoons, Hussars and King's German Legion during Napoleonic Wars. Prussians were so impressed by this sabre, that they adopted it as "Blucher Sabre Model 1811". This is a massive blade not made for fencing rather for one massive cut from the horseback. Steel hilt, pommel and guard . Black painted wooden grip with no wire. Polished steel scabbard with two hanging rings.
Condition: very good for its age. Blade is clean on one side but it is developing spots of patina on the other (it could be polished if desired). The hilt, guard and pommel also turning to brown. Grip is solid with no wood missing. Excellent scabbard with no dings or bends, with polished steel  turning to nice patina.
Excellent example of Napoleonic Saber from English side.
