Very nice World War One period Kingdom of Italy "Regia Marina" (Navy) Officer's sword. Sculptured crowned lion's head pommel with mane backstrap. The reverse knuckle-bow culminating into a "cup" guard with a "Regia Marina" Eagle under a Crowned Anchor (RM). Everything shows lots of original gold gilt. Wire wrapped white sharkskin grip. Double edged 31 1/2 inches long blade, engraved with the state Coat of Arms, military and floral motifs and on reverse - the "House of Savoy Eagle". Sword was made by "Clemen & Jung - Solingen". Blade is grey and age darkened. Nice black leather scabbard with engraved brass fittings. Great condition leather and brass showing traces of original gold gild. Wonderfully imposed anchor on the tip.
