Very nice English pattern 1897 infantry officer's sword with basket hilt and 32 3/8 inch blade with cipher of George V (1910-1936). Steel, nickel plated basked hilt with some geometrical pattern and "G VI R" under the Royal Crown on the guard. Nickel plated pommel and fish skin covered grip with twisted wire wrapping. Beautiful 32 3/8 inch long blade, nickel plated and etched on both sides. The fore has a cipher of George VI (1936-1952) under the Royal Crown and some geometric/floral decoration. The back side has the House of Hanover/Windsor Crest under the Crown and more geometric/floral decorations. Light  brown leather covered scabbard with one leather loop on the back. Attached to hilt original brown leather sword knot
Condition: excellent.  Blade has almost perfect plating, just one small corrosion spot on ricasso. Basket hilt and pommel retains all plating, only the round screw on top of the pommel shows some brown patina. Grip is perfect with no damage to fish skin and all wire wrap present. Sword knot is great with no tears or cuts. Scabbard is also excellent with almost like new leather. Sword was made by "Wilkinson" - star with brass stamp present on ricasso.
