Super interesting Austro-Hungarian sword which utilizes much older Italian blade. A word "Fringia" takes roots from Arabic "Firangi" and Turkish "Frangi" meaning European blade. During Italian Renaissance in XV century, quality blades started to be marked "Fringia". With time this word became a synonym of "Quality Italian Blade".
This sword has such a blade. It massive: 32 inches long and 1.75 inches wide. The sword has 1776 "Prima Plana" hilt but the blade is probably a couple hundred years older. Besides "Fringia the only other markings on the blade is number 4 under Imperial Crown.
Condition: very good for its age. Blade on the darker side with some old imperfections and some old rust spots. Brass hit in a very good condition with Lion Head on pommel, Grip shows some old leather but it is all there and nothing missing. Super interesting sword.
