This British Officer's sword dates from the beginning of 20th Century. The English pattern 1847 hilt is mounted with 31 inches long blade, overall 77 inches. The blade is beautifully etched on both sides with a fuller running 2/3's of the way down, however has been heavily cleaned near tip in recent years revealing some old pitting scars. The intricately detailed guard wears a lion's head pommel and the face is adorned with a crowned anchor, all still wearing much of the original gold finish which is also wonderfully enhanced with the fabulous, original knot. The lovely rayskin covered hilt also remains in very nice, tight condition and continues to wear its original twisted wire wrap. The leather scabbard wears pretty brass fittings and although is missing one of the carrying rings, does remain healthy and in serviceable condition.
