One of the best examples of M-1837 Austro-Hungarian Grenadier officer's sword - this is the model used primarily by those of General Officer rank. In superb condition. Retains about 50% of the original blue and gilding. Blade length is 34" (39" overall). Blade is quality etched with military trophies and scrolling foliage. Higher quality hilt and pommel with nice decoration pattern. Fish skin and copper grip wire is all there. Almost no pitting whatsoever - a few tiny spots near the end of blade. Most original polish still remains. Complete with very nice steel scabbard in top shape - absolutely no dings or dents and beautiful portepee with "FJI" (Franz Josef I) initials on one side and Imperial Eagle on the other.
Nice Austro-Hungarian swords of this period are quite scarce.
