Very nice M-1837 sabre of Austro-Hungarian Grenadier and Jaeger officers commemorating the revolution of 1848. Single edged, curved blade with fuller on both sides and back point. Nicely  etched both sides with scrolling foliage and inscriptions: "13.14.15 Marz 1848" on the inner side and  "17. Fur Gott, Freiheit und Waterland" (For God,  Freedom and Fatherland) on the outer side. Iron hilt. Strip vault basket merges into flat crossguard ending with volute. Wooden grip covered with leather with brass twisted wire wrap. Iron scabbard with two scabbard loops. Nice yellow portepee with Imperial Eagle and "FJI" initials.
Condition: very good. Nice blade with some darker spots, specially on the lower section. Very good steel hilt and pommel starting to show patina. Excellent grip with very good leather and tight twisted wire. Porteppe in like new condition. Very good scabbard showing some darker spots an top ring  and base missing.
Overall a very nice and interesting sabre from time of Nations Spring Uprising in Europe.
