DESCRIPTION: Scarce Swiss M.1842 smoothbore cadet percussion musket. Caliber: 13.5 mm.  Basically, a scale-down version of the Swiss M.1842 infantry percussion musket. Manufactured by August Francotte of Liege, as indicated by markings on the lockplate and barrel. Three barrel band configuration. All brass furniture (barrel bands, nosecap and trigger guard). Steel buttplate. Canton Vaud (Waadt) markings are stamped on the back of the barrel (please, see pictures). There are also several other numbers and proofs stamped on barrel, bands and stock. Fixed front and rear sights. Complete with an original ramrod. CONDITION: Fine. All the steel parts are covered by light, uniform patina (untouched, uncleaned condition). Percussion lock works fine. The bore is in fine condition. Stock shows some usual handling marks. Original finish on the stock. There is an old repair in the stock, with a piece of wood secured with a screw, just behind the barrel (please, see pictures). Couple of small chips of wood are missing in the stock, along the ramrod channel. All the markings and numbers on stock and metal are clearly visible. Overall length: 42.25 inch.
