DESCRIPTION: Nice 18/19th Century Indian matchlock Torador musket. Caliber: 14 mm. The barrel is rather plain with some geometrical motif decoration. All brass furniture. Ivory butt plate. The buttstock displays four brass decorative plates in shapes of flowers. Six brass barrel bands. Two sling swivels. Simple, non-adjustable front and rear sight. Complete with a ramrod, which seems to be a replacement. The musket was designed to be both, a functional and a decorative weapon. The gun is in all original condition with no restoration of any kind! Overall length: 65.5 inch. Barrel length: 44 inch. CONDITION: Overall in fine+ condition. Some minor scratches and handling marks on the stock. No cracks to the stock. Some wear to the front part of the stock along the barrel lines. The matchlock works fine. The lock and the barrel are covered with a light, scattered patina (uncleaned). No pitting. Very attractive, light and well balanced Torador! (Ref. "A Glossary of the Construction, Decoration and Use of Arms and Armor", by George Cameron Stone , p. 623 figure 797).
