Scarce Austrian Tube Lock - Augustin Infantry Musket Model 1842. .69 caliber, long, 42 1/2' round barrel, retained by 3 barrel bands, standard front and rear sights. Lock plate and the left side of barrel marked: "849". Small Double headed Imperial Eagle to heel of lock. Iron regulation furniture of the period, "C" engraved to trigger guard and butt tang. Multiple arsenal marking on the barrel.
Condition: very good profiles and clear markings. Silver/grey patina to barrel with several areas of surface rust as are the barrel bands, nose cap and nose cap bands. Trigger guard and butt plate in white with some surface rust. All complete with swivels an cleaning rod. Very good bore, action in great working condition. Solid stock with lots of dents and field usage but no major damage. Overall very good condition for its age. It would grade up with some TLC.
