This is a very scarce mounted artillery officers sabretsche to the Scottish Division of Victorian Royal Artillery. The Scottish Division only lasted 9 years and was formed from the Volunteer Artillery units in 1882 and their depot was Fort Leith, near Edinborough. The 1st brigade was made up of regular troops and the 2nd to 6th brigades were Scottish Artillery Militia. This arrangement lasted until 1891 when they were again reorganized and incorporated into the Southern Division Royal Artillery based in Portsmouth. This item has a superb example of the distinctive badge (it is the same size and quality of the helmet plate) and it is complete with the three ringed attachment.. Very good condition for its age. The patent leather has aged but adds to the appearance of this unusual piece of Scottish and British history.
