A fine all steel Indo-Persian shield virtually identical to the example identified as "Persian Shield 18th Century" in the highly regarded reference work "Orez Perski" (Persian Arms and Armour) by A. R. Chodynski (plate 87, description p.152).
Steel construction engraved on entire surface with floral and vegetal motifs interspersed with Gods and animals. Steel border enforcement indicates the shield was designed for combat. Padding, liner and handles long gone.
Excellent quality example in excellent shape. Large: 17 1/2 inch Dia.
