DESCRIPTION: Large frame Spanish Lefaucheux type pinfire revolver. Caliber: 12 mm pinfire. The revolver has a factory original nickel plated finish. The upper part of the barrel displays a maker address, "Orbea Hermanos y C-a Eibar" (poorly stamped). The serial number is stamped on the right side of the barrel housing, which is a typical feature of the Orbea Hermanos manufactured Lefaucheux revolvers. The revolver loosely follows the French M.1854 pattern. Open top design. Single action. Six rounds cylinder. Plain hardwood grips. Complete with a lanyard ring. Some revolvers of this type were captured during the Spanish American War in Cuba and Philippines. Curtis shows an almost identical Orbea Hermanos manufactured revolver with blue/brown finish. Muller shows a very similar revolver made for the Spanish navy by the Trubia state factory as, "Modelo 1859". CONDITION: Overall in fine antique condition. 92% of original nickel finish is still on metal. The balance is in brown. The action is strong. The cylinder indexation is fine. Brown hard wood grips are in fine condition, with some small handling marks. Bore is in fine condition with strong rifling. The cylinder's chambers are also in fine condition. The loading gate works fine. All the internal parts of the revolver are in very good condition with no visible wear. The ejection rod seems to be a replacement. Orbea Hermanos manufactured some of the best Spanish revolvers at the time. Antique. Serial# 78XX. (Ref. "Geschichte und Technik der europaischen Militarrevolver" by Rolf H.
