Early production Czechoslovak vz.23 Mauser sawtooth bayonet. Manufactured in Czechoslovakia in the 1920-s for the VZ-23 Mauser rifles. One side of the blade displays, "CSZ", while the other displays, "F, Rampant Lion, 23". The crossguard displays, "Z" (in a circle). Complete with a steel scabbard. Overall length: 15.5 inch. Blade length: 9.75 inch. There is a controversy among bayonet collectors if the sawtooth feature is factory original, or perhaps, it was added in Afghanistan. A small number of such bayonets were recently brought from Afghanistan by returning US soldiers. CONDITION: Overall in low fine condition. The blade has about 70% of its finish. The hardwood grips are in good condition (one side has two hairline cracks). The scabbard shows about 40% of its finish. The frog hook is moving.
