Scarce Imperial Russian Berdan M.II socket bayonet. The Russian books calls the bayonet "Model 1870", while Janzen calls it "Model 1871". This was the first Russian bayonet with quadrangular blade and with screwdriver tip. Serial number is stamped on the base of the blade. The base of the blade also displays Izhevsk Arms Factory arsenal markings, "Bow and Arrow". Overall length is 23 inch. Blade length is 20.50 inch. CONDITION: Excellent. Original finish with about 90% of blue still present on metal. The balance is in white, mixed with some light patina. All the Russian markings on the socket and blade are clearly visible. The locking ring works fine. (Janzen p.163/2)
